"We could go back to my place, if you wanted. It's private." Mac is very glad she lives alone and that her neighbors don't seem terribly interested in her comings and goings because it affords her the luxury of having someone over whenever she wants.

"I've seen those houses," says Jackson, nodding, raising one hand to settle his head more firmly on his head, reaching for the cigarette tin in his pocket. "Swankier than I'm used to." Susan's place was swanky enough, sure, but it also never really felt like his. "Smoke?"

"Mmm yes, I have good taste," Mac teases. "And yes, God. I haven't smoked in months."

She doesn't really do it regularly but she does like to smoke when she drinks.

He doesn't make the obvious crack, the clearly, because you're walking home with me. Instead, he takes a thin cigarette out of the tin, slips it between his lips to light them and then offers it to her with a smile.

"Here's to more bad habits."

Mac takes a drag before responding, trying to adjust to a hand rolled cigarette versus the filtered ones she's smoked before.

"Mmm absolutely. Beginning to think this was a very, very good idea."

"And nobody's fen naked yet," he says. He's being unnecessarily bold, making a tiny bit fun, but Mac strikes him as the kind of woman who wouldn't necessarily disapprove."

"Oh well, once I'm naked you'll probably run screaming," Mac teases back. She is realistic about her body most of the time but she does think the island's done her some good - she feels and looks healthier and happier here.

"But for now, a very good time will be had."

"Are you doubting my mettle, madam?" he says, definitely smirking now He nudges his hat back further on his head. "Because I am made of sterner stuff than that, I assure you."

"Your mettle? Oh no. I am warning you about the lingering effects of middle age," Mac teases, winking at him.

"Not even island sun and relaxation can cure that one."

"I reckon you ain't much older than me, if you're older," he points out. He likes the wink, likes the way she looks when she does it. "And you're assuming there's any such thing as a woman who isn't beautiful, in her own way."

Jackson likes to think of himself as a connoisseur.

"Clever answer," Mac says, motioning for him to follow her up the path and to her actual cottage. It's a nice little place but it's a bit big to roll around in alone and she's glad to have the company tonight.

"Well, this is me. You can smoke inside, if you want. I'm not bothered."

Something else that he likes about her. He pauses on the doorstep, slipping a cigarette between his lips and lighting it before he follows her into the room. He takes off his hat and drops it on a table, looking around.

"I don't have anything to offer you to drink but I think I'm already closer to drunk than I should be," Mac says, inexplicably nervous about this whole thing. She knows it isn't serious with Nikola and she's entitled to do what she pleases but she still feels odd about it.

"We could go to bed, though? When you're done smoking that?"

"Darlin', I thought you'd never ask."

He takes another drag on the cigarette and then looks around for somewhere to stub it out. Lacking an obvious place, he lifts one foot, pressing it into the sole of his boot and then tucking the stub back into his tin. He shrugs out of his jacket, leaving himself in shirtsleeves and vest. "Shall we?"

Mac laughs at how formal that is and holds her hands out to him. "Yes, let's, before I go and lose my nerve. I'm very nervous. You should help me be...not so nervous?"

It's so very, very easy to go to her, taking her hands and drawing the line of her body in against his. She feels good, pressed against him and he bends his head to kiss her, tilting her chin up to meet him.

That's much better, actually, and Mac relaxes against him and settles into the kiss. She has always really liked kissing and Homer is excellent at it; that bodes well for later.

Been too long since he did this and he intends to enjoy every single moment. His hand's on her hip, slipping under the hem of her shirt to find bare skirt. Suddenly, he's got a passionate need.

"Let's get it off," Mac whispers, sliding a hand between them to work on the buttons of her blouse.

"Just going to be in the way, otherwise."

He gives her some room, lets her be the one who unbuttons her blouse and then he slips it down off her shoulders. He's wearing the familiar layers, vest over a shirt and he starts to thumb open his own buttons, leaning in to kiss her again, because he can't resist it. He doesn't want to.

It's been a little while since she's undressed in front of someone new since she's been with Nikola off and on the last few months. It still makes her nervous but not so much she wants to stop; Mac lets her shirt fall to the floor and works on her skirt.

"Too many layers," she says, laughing quietly.

He likes this new fangled underwear, how light and delicate it is next to the heavy stays and boning that he's used to. He lets his eyes linger on her for a moment as he shrugs out of shirt and waistcoat.

"Come off easy enough," he says, starting on his pants.

"Thank God for small favors," Mac agrees, stepping out of the skirt and reaching back to unhook her bra. It doesn't take long from there, just a few moments, and then she's finally naked and ready for more.

"Be glad I have an actual house. I've been told I'm loud."

"There is nothing wrong with that, darlin'," says Jackson, with feeling, stripping himself as naked as he is because he steps in against her with an appreciative look. "Now - I've got a feelin' we could go all night, so where'd you want to start?"
