for Nikola - early July

According to all the books she's read, a sprained ankle can hurt for approximately six to eight weeks. Mac's only had hers for two and she's already about to go insane and she doesn't think she can handle the pain and inconvenience of walking on sand with a bad ankle for much longer.

Today, she's eschewed going out and about for lazing about in her cottage with a bowl of fruit and a book on Henry Kissinger. She strongly suspects that she's read it before but she was always so busy with work back home that reading for pleasure was something she didn't really have time for and when she did, she almost never finished anything.

She hears the door swing open and assumes it's Nikola - anyone else who might visit her would have likely knocked. "Bedroom. Still nursing my war wound."

"I hope you're naked, otherwise I'm going to be greatly disappointed." Nikola called out, tucking the box containing her presents into his suit pocket. It was obvious something was there but he wasn't going to say what yet. Let her get it out of him with her journalistic skills.

Nikola appeared through the door with a wicked grin. Ah, there she was.

"Still limping on my foot," Mac says, lifting it up to show him. "So I'm not moving anywhere today."

She beams at him. She hasn't seen him in a little while and no matter who else she's fucking, she is very fond of Nikola Tesla.

"Well, that is good and look at you in my second favourite position to see you in. The first being in my lab helping, although I did find you're reporting to be quite... exhilarating too." Nikola said, discarding his waistcoat at the end of the bed before crawling up it to join her. The parcel in his pocket peeking out just a little as he settled beside her.

Mac has her reading glasses on and she lowers them a bit to see what it is he has in his pocket. "You brought me something? Because I'm injured, you brought me a present?"

She adores presents.

"No, I would offer to give you a foot massage and read you poetry because you're injured. This is just something I made," Nikola replied, pulling the small parcel of jewellery out of his pocket. He placed it in her hands before reclining back on the bed and waiting for her reaction. He had made more than a ring, he had made an entire set for her. With a matching design of course. He had some taste.

"Oh, Nikola, it's beautiful," Mac says, laying the jewelry out to look at it. "You shouldn't have done this for me."

She's excessively pleased that he has, though, because it's very romantic and not exactly what she's used to.

"Yes, well I could hardly give you an incomplete set now could I?" Nikola said with a little light smile. It was always nice to see the people he was involved with wearing his things, it was a nice not too subtle that stated mine without him having to be overly possessive or sulky. "And more importantly I did want to make you something even if it's just that and nothing that would challenge me."

"I think it's perfect," Mac decides. "Thank you. It's the perfect get-well present."

Maybe it's a bit more than that, of course, but she doesn't want to start putting too many feelings behind it.

"More than that, if it were just a get well present than dearest William would be inundated decorative broaches and rings. And I don't like him half as much as I like you," Nikola replied, touching Mac's cheek with the back of his hand as he stretched out beside her.

"Mmm, and exactly how much do you like me, then?" Mac teases, grinning at him. She has a good idea, of course, but 'I like you more than my best friend's husband' isn't exactly a ringing endorsement.

"I love you," Nikola replied, teasing with a smirk as she grinned at him. He leaned in, turning his head to brush a kiss against her lips. "So, a good deal more than dearest William."

"You love me? You love me? What...no you don't, that's impossible," Mac says, shaking her head. She doesn't want to believe that's true because she really doesn't understand the idea being in romantic love with more than one person at a time. "You don't love me."

"Well, what did you expect?" Nikola asked, raising an eyebrow at her seeming outright insistence that he didn't love her. People had such odd ideas of love, he was beginning to start to like Alcuin's world's Love as thou wilt. It meant Nikola got everything he wanted which he was always a fan of. "And how is it impossible? You can love more than one person, you know?"

"Nobody in their right mind loves me," Mac says, utterly incredulous. "I'm a complete mess, you know. You're better to go the other direction."

"I'm a genius, I doubt I'm insane." Nikola said sniffing a little dismissively. Insanity and genius were close but not that close and Nikola was clearly not insane. Irrational hatred of Edison aside. "You are ridiculous. No, I made my mind up you won't change it stop trying. Unless you say that you love Edison and then that's it."

"No, I have no opinions on Edison but if it were a choice between fucking you and fucking him, I'd choose you," Mac says sweetly. "You would be a much better lay in the end than someone from New Jersey."

"How can you have no opinions on Edison? Edison! America's greatest contribution to douchebaggery, an asshole of the first order." Nikola said, scowling a little. Even if the thought she'd choose him over Edison, there was still the fact that she clearly needed to realise how much he wanted Edison deader than he already was. "Of course I would. He was an idiot, he would probably get me to teach him then claim he was brilliant in bed."

"You're the only dead scientist I'm going to sleep with," MacKenzie promises. "I've just never had an opinion on Edison. I'm a journalist, not a scientist."

"I'm going to get reading material, then you can understand and make more of an informed journalistic opinion on what an idiot he was." Nikola replied, a little sulkily. He pouted as he reclined back on the bed, fingers absentmindedly touching her side. "No opinion, ridiculous."

"You can educate me accordingly," Mac promises him, sliding a little closer. She likes cuddling and gets it rarely so she wants to take advantage while she can.

Nikola smirked at the idea of educating her, he was very keen of 'educating' in and outside of the classroom and that could be rather fun with her.

"That does sound intriguing," Nikola replied, sliding his arms a little more around her before his hands wandered a little to cup her ass. "A little education never hurt anyone. And I, unlike that ass Edison, am a good teacher. Brilliant one might say."

"What are you planning on teaching me?" Mac asks, mostly flirty and ever so slightly wary.

"Oh I don't know perhaps Bernoulli's equation on internal versus external flow problems? See if you can complete the modelling whilst I fuck you," Nikola suggested with a smirk. He did like the idea of combining his work and pleasure and the idea of fucking Mac against his lab table before taking her to bed did excite him a little.

"I'm terrible at math," MacKenzie warns. "I don't think I'll do a good job of that at all, especially if you're fucking me during."

"Then I'd just make sure you have the right encouragement-" Nikola replied, smoothing both hands over Mac's ass before tugging her closer to him. "-to make sure you didn't make a mistake. And what do you mean if, of course I would be fucking you. That's of the best bits."

Mac sighs. "Of course you would be. It wouldn't be a Nikola Tesla maths lesson otherwise. So, do you fuck all of your students or just me?"

"Of course not, or at least a lesson with the right reward and punishment requirement." Nikola replied, sliding his hand up to brush her hair back from her face. She was beautiful, he didn't tell her that enough. "Not all my students. Just the best ones."

Mac scoffs a little at that. "Nikola, you're dear to me but I can't even do arithmetic, much less what you do. I'm probably not anywhere near the student Alcuin is."

"No, you both have your own strengths. I could quiz you on ethical representations in media if that is more to your liking," Nikola said, turning his head to press a kiss against her neck. His lips following the gentle slope and down to her throat. "And no one can do what I can do. I'm a genius remember."

"I might be able to do that," Mac says, sighing a little at the feel of his mouth. "You could quiz me in Russian."
