Mac lets them in and rubs her temples lightly before stripping out of her clothes. She hasn't gotten sick yet but she's still queasy and a little dizzy and thinks that feeling hot is only going to contribute to that. Once she's in her underwear, she crawls into bed and buries her head beneath the pillow.

"I am completely unequipped for life."

"I don't know. I honestly don't. I mean, I'm not obligating you to anything with me given this recent development," Mac says, wishing that she hadn't admitted she had feelings now that her life's about to be upended.

"You think I'd be here if I wasn't interested?" he says, quietly, turning his head so he's looking straight at her. "Hell, I'm interested enough to give up some of that fantastically interesting sex we've been havin'. Though I'm pretty sure there's got to be a way to keep some of it." He risks a smile.

"Hope so," Mac says, smiling back. "I'm just not going to be terribly attractive in a few months and whatever we might have now could fizzle out. And it's not just me to consider, either, since I'll have a baby to deal with eventually, that will suck up most of my time."

"Mac," he says, gentle but insistent. "I'm a man of a decent age. While I might be content to let my cock do a good bit of my thinkin', I do also have a pretty solidly functioning brain. I know what women go through while pregnant, I know what babies look like. I have faced down madmen and murderers and,darlin? I am pretty sure that I can handle you."

"I like how you make me feel," Mac says, red with embarrassment. "I like how you look at me and I know you like what you see. It's going to hurt me when I'm not attractive to you because I'm so...well, you know what I mean. When I can't see my feet for my belly and my back hurts and I'm all puffy and swollen and miserable."

"How do you know what's goin' to be attractive to me?" he asks, eyebrows raised. He brushes the backs of his fingers against her flushed cheek. "Don't burn bridges before we've even gotten to 'em."

"Have you ever had sex with a pregnant woman? I can't imagine it's particularly easy," Mac says, closing her eyes and turning into that little touch. "And so help me if you say you already have and you mean me, right now, I will clock you. I mean an actually, visibly pregnant woman."

"Once or twice," he admits, keeping that light touch going. "Over the years. There's ways around it. Especially since, you know...There's other ways you like it."

"I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it," Mac decides. "That feels nice. What you're doing? It's comforting."

"Good," he says, shifting in a little closer, moving his whole body a little nearer.

"I don't guess this is the normal thing you like, is it? I mean, it's not ordering me around or anything." Mac is a little hesitant about admitting how much she craves this kind of touch and attention because she gets it very rarely.

"Darlin', I like all sorts of things," he says, hand slipping lower so his fingers brush her collarbone. "Yeah, I like that stuff, and I like how hard it gets you off, but there's other things. If I can't have it, I ain't gonna mourn for it."

"So you won't need to go to someone else for that? I mean, you can have sex with whomever you like," Mac says quickly. "But you're more interested in me than the kind of sex we have?"

"Yes, I am interested in you. And I will take whatever kind of sex I can get." To his credit , he does manage to say it solemnly. "Though I do hope I still get to spank you from time to time."

"We'll see," Mac says, giggling a little and then trying to hide that behind her hand. "I'm not completely ruling it out yet."

"As though you'll be able to give it all up," he says, just glad to see her smiling. "You love some of it too much. You'll be begging me for work arounds."

"Mm, possibly," Mac says, stretching a little. "I just want you to be gentle with me."

She means more than just sex but it's safer, for now, for that to refer to how she likes her sex.

"I can do that too," he murmurs, brushing his fingers against her cheek before he bends his head to kiss her.

The kiss is soft and sweet in a way she doesn't exactly expect and when it breaks, MacKenzie gives him a warm smile.

"I could stand to have more of that, maybe."

He doesn't need much urging to kiss her again, fingers pushing into her hair as he shifts closer.

Mac curls her hand against his back and whimpers a little, falling into the kiss even if there's still a voice in the back of her head that makes her doubt everything. She wishes she wasn't so insecure about things and she imagines it will take a long time to fully pull out of that. For now, she can try to ignore it in favor of spending time with him.

He's still fully dressed, which seems like a shame, but he does like still having clothes on when she's wearing so little. He presses the kiss a little deeper, fingers sliding against her ribs.

Mac breaks the kiss after a moment or two longer and trails her lips down his jaw and neck. "You can take something off if you want. Not really feeling up to sex but some skin isn't going to bother me."

"Yes, ma'am," he says, sitting up, stripping off vest and shirt before he lies down beside her again. He brushes his hair back from her face. "How're you doin', darlin'?"

"Still a little unsettled," Mac admits. "But feeling marginally better than before - both physically and emotionally." She trails her fingers down his arm. "I'm glad you stayed. You didn't have to and you chose to stay with me. It means a lot to me."
