It's fucking hot.

Mac has never been the best when she's not in complete comfort and while she didn't bitch when she was embedded because she had a job to do, she's back on the island after having been in air conditioning for three days and she's annoyed. It's irrational, but nothing about pregnancy is rational, is it?

Jackson is next to her, which makes the bed that much warmer, and she huffs and comes out from under the sheet to lay on top of it completely naked. She fans herself ineffectually with her hand.

"Why does it have to be so goddamn hot?"

"Fuck," Mac hisses softly. She should have known being petulant would get her into some kind of trouble and she thinks this kind of trouble is better than the alternative.

"I don't think I'm going to be cooling off, exactly."

"No, I just...God, you know you're turning me on," Mac says, glaring at him. It has no heat, though, because she loves every second of it. "And I really just wanted to cool off. Really."

"I try," she murmurs, squirming a little at the cold against her skin. It feels good though, especially in comparison to how damn hot it is outside.
